Are you a local employer?

Not only do we support our participants to build skills and seek work, we believe it’s important to provide the right support for them once in employment.

This is where we provide support to you.
It can include training for you and your employees about their barrier, facilitating progress reviews and
ongoing contact if any issues arise.

We want to break down the stigma about health issues in the workplace and provide the right
information about how this may affect your employee as an individual.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US

We will provide a suitable participant who has a genuine interest working in your area of employment.

We will organise all placement paperwork, provide you with Risk Assessments and necessary information about the participant

We will support the participant to settle in and manage any issues that may arise

We want to empower our participants to build confidence and self-esteem, so eventually they feel able to work unsupported and manage issues independently.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

To have an interest in supporting someone into a work experience placement, and should a vacancy arise, paid employment

An open mind and consideration for the context of barriers to employment.

SERI Funding

Our local Shetland Employer Recruitment Incentive (SERI) helps people of all ages with the greatest barriers to employment get jobs and stay in jobs. It is supported by the Scottish Government and administered by Shetland Island Council on behalf of the Shetland Local Employability Partnership.

Employers can apply for financial assistance with the costs of recruiting and employing individuals supported by local Employability Providers funded by Discover Work. It can provide up to £8000 for newly created jobs or vacancies. Employers who are successful in applying to the fund receive the money directly.

Employer Recruitment Incentives (ERIs) play an important role in supporting those with the greatest barriers to employment, to enable them to obtain and remain in sustainable employment. The Shetland ERI is available to use as a contribution to the additional costs of recruiting and sustaining individuals in employment.

The Shetland ERI can be utilised in several ways such as for additional supervisory costs, training, initial travel to work costs, specialist in work support, or wages. No single use is prescribed.
